Principal’s Greeting
Tēnā koutou Glenview Whānau
Welcome back to Term four! We hope everyone enjoyed a restful and refreshing break and is ready for another exciting and action-packed term ahead. A special welcome to all our new students and whānau joining Glenview Primary — we’re delighted to have you as part of our school community and look forward to seeing you thrive over the coming weeks.
Term four is always a vibrant time, filled with sporting events, cultural celebrations, and opportunities to reflect on the successes and achievements of the year. It’s a term that celebrates growth, effort, and connection — and one that always brings a wonderful sense of pride and joy across our school.
As the weather warms up, please remember that all students are required to wear a brimmed hat during outdoor activities to stay sun-safe. Sunscreen and hydration are also important, so we encourage everyone to bring water bottles and apply sunscreen regularly throughout the day. Let’s all take care to stay protected while making the most of the sunshine!
At Glenview Primary, we know that learning is most powerful when home and school work together. The partnership between whānau and teachers helps create the supportive environment our tamariki need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. As we enter this final term, we encourage whānau to stay engaged by keeping communication open with teachers, supporting learning at home, and celebrating progress along the way. Together, we can help every student reach their full potential and foster a lifelong love of learning.
We’d like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt thanks to our outgoing Board of Trustees for their dedication, service, and commitment to Glenview School. Your leadership and contribution have helped shape a strong, caring, and forward-looking school community. At the same time, we warmly welcome our new Board of Trustees and look forward to working together as we continue to build on the great foundations in place, ensuring the best outcomes for all our learners.
Finally, a reminder about the importance of regular attendance. Every day at school is a valuable opportunity for learning, growth, and connection. Consistent attendance helps students stay engaged, on track, and ready to participate fully in all that Term four has to offer.
Let’s make the most of every moment together as we finish the year strong and make Term four a positive, productive, and memorable end to 2025!
Ngā mihi nui,
Carl Allan
Principal

J7 – Learning About the “Silly Season”!
This term, we’ve been exploring the “Silly Season” and learning all about the seasons, days of the week, and months of the year. We’ve also been investigating the difference between day and night. The children enjoyed creating colourful collages to show the different things we do during the day and at night — from sunny playtime adventures to cozy bedtime routines. It’s been a wonderful way to connect our learning to the world around us!
Here are some of our day and night collages, and learning that for a collage, we need to cut the shapes we want to represent.

Middle Team Poetry Recital
This term has started with a hiss and a roar! There are so many exciting things to look forward to — our annual Try-athlon, Athletics Sports, Tabloids Day, and of course, our year 4 overnight camp.
Our inquiry this term is called “Diary of a Turtle.” We’re learning about plastics and the effect microplastics have on our waterways — from local streams and rivers to our seas and oceans. Each class is tracking a turtle as it journeys across the Pacific or Atlantic Ocean, discovering the many dangers turtles face, not only from natural predators but also from plastic waste that finds its way into the sea.
As a team, we’ve collected rubbish around our school and the nearby council field to investigate the most common types of litter people drop. We’ve learned that turtles and other marine animals often mistake plastic for food — a powerful reminder of how our everyday actions can make a big difference to the environment.
To support our theme, Mrs Joyce’s class has created colourful paintings of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. We hope you enjoy our artwork — can you name all four turtles?

Brain Box
We've learnt a lot of stuff in electronics in the senior school using Brain boxes, which is a kit full of cool stuff like light bulbs, motors, LEDs and more. We learn things like different types of circuits such as parallel, and series. We’ve also learned about open and closed circuits where if it’s open, it won’t work. If it’s closed it will work. We are having a bunch of fun doing this stuff and it boosts our creativity!
