Principal’s Greeting
Kia ora Glenview Parents and Whānau
Kia ora e te whānau,
As term one comes to a close, we want to take a moment to reflect on what has been a vibrant, engaging, and community-focused start to 2025 here at Glenview Primary School.
Our annual whānau picnic was a wonderful way to begin the school year, bringing together tamariki, whānau, and staff to build connections and strengthen our school community. It was great to see so many families enjoying the sunshine, sharing kai, and getting to know each other in a relaxed and fun setting. Thank you to everyone who joined us — your presence made it truly special.
The senior camp was once again a huge success! Despite some challenging weather, our year five and six students rose to the occasion and embraced every opportunity. A massive thank you to Mr Redwood, Mr Kay and the team of staff and parents who made it all possible. The outdoor experiences provided our students with moments to grow, work as a team, and test themselves in a safe and supportive environment.
Our middle and senior swimming sports events were fantastic celebrations of participation, effort, and sportsmanship. It was awesome to see our school values on display throughout the day. Mrs Cox and Mr Kay did a superb job in organising events that struck a great balance between fun and friendly competition.
We've also had fantastic participation in a variety of summer sports codes this term, with students representing Glenview with pride and enthusiasm in sports like cricket, kiorahi, and basketball. Thank you to all our coaches, managers, and supporters on the sidelines — we couldn’t do it without you.
This term, our teaching team has been fully engaged in professional learning through Learnership and Teaching as Inquiry. We continue to explore how we can deepen learning across the curriculum, with a focus on the Science of Learning and building powerful learning habits in our tamariki. Our staff are constantly growing their practice to ensure that Glenview remains a place of high-quality teaching and positive learning outcomes for every student.
We’re thrilled to welcome Madeline Warner to our office administration team. Madeline brings warmth, organisation, and a positive energy to the front office and is already a valued member of our Glenview whānau. We’re so pleased to have her on board!
Term one has flown by, but it’s been packed with rich learning and memorable experiences. As we head into the break, we encourage our tamariki to rest, recharge, and spend quality time with whānau.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back for term two on Monday 28 April, with more exciting learning opportunities ahead.

Brimmed Hats & Sunscreen
I would like to remind parents that in accordance with our ‘Sun Safe’ procedures within our Health and Safety policy, the wearing of a brimmed hat is compulsory during terms 1 and 4 when the children are outside. We would also appreciate it if your child came to school wearing sunscreen. Please check your child has a hat at school. It is much easier if your child keeps a hat at school during these terms.

Nut Allergy
We have children with severe food allergies to peanuts/nuts, eggs and cheese at school. Any exposure to peanuts, other nuts, cheese and egg may cause a life threatening reaction.
To reduce the chance of this happening, please do not send any food containing peanuts or other nuts to school in your child’s lunchbox.
We also ask that if your child does have any egg or cheese in their lunchbox, it is important that they wash their hands and face straight after eating.
If your child has eaten peanuts, other nuts, cheese or eggs before school, please ensure their hands and face have been thoroughly washed before coming to school.
We appreciate your support of these procedures.

A Hectic (and Exciting!) Week for Middle School
What a hectic few weeks it’s been! Week 8 though brought added adventure, surprise, and plenty of action for our middle school students. It all kicked off with a spectacular and unexpected landing - the Hamilton hot air balloon touching down right here at school on Tuesday morning! Later that day, a group of year 4 students proudly represented us at the inter-school swimming sports - ka pai! We wrapped up our week with a big day out, hopping on and off buses and heading off to explore Hamilton’s iconic city bridges on foot. A huge thanks to all the staff and helpers who made this jam-packed week one to remember!
Here are some pictures from our recent school swimming carnival, some middle school art that captured the excitement of the unexpected touchdown of the balloon and lastly some pictures of our big day out.

Dear Cory,
Thank you for coming to camp, Especially for the whole week! It was really fun getting to do all of the fun activities. Thank you for everything. Also thanks for the baked beans, they were yum!
This was definitely my favourite camp out of year 4 and 5 camp because of all of the fun things that we did! My favourite memory at camp was probably going swimming at Waihi beach. I liked it because of how warm the water was. All of the spirally shells looked really pretty in the sand. I also loved making sand castles.
There were a lot of fun things at camp but my favourite one with you was probably the Burma trail. I think it was funny when you were waving the leaves in my face. I also loved the slip n’ slide and Waihi beach.
The biggest challenge was definitely the Spider Web challenge. I didn't really like being picked up, but it was also kinda fun and also stressful. We would get so close to finishing it someone were to touch the rope and we would have to reset.
Thank you again,
From Charlotte.
