Principal’s Greeting
Kia ora Glenview Parents and Whānau
We hope you enjoyed a restful and refreshing break. Term three has begun positively, and we are delighted to welcome back our returning students and extend a warm welcome to our new students to Glenview and we look forward to the enthusiasm and fresh energy they bring.
At Glenview, continuous learning and personal growth are at the heart of everything we do. Learnership goes beyond acquiring new knowledge—it involves building skills, resilience, and the confidence needed to face challenges and thrive. We encourage our students to embrace new opportunities and strive for daily improvement. Every small step forward is meaningful and brings us closer to achieving our goals.
Winter sports are still in full swing, and we wish all our athletes continued success. Whether you are participating in football, basketball, netball, or hockey, your dedication and team spirit make us proud. Keep working hard, and most importantly, enjoy the rest of your season! Please remember to show appreciation to your coaches and supporters who help you attend practices and games.
A gentle reminder to all families: punctuality is essential for students to fully engage in learning. Arriving at school on time ensures your child has a positive start to their day and maximizes their educational experience. Please ensure students arrive before the first bell and are picked up promptly at the end of the day.
We are pleased to inform you that our new front fence and gate system has been installed to enhance the safety and security of our school community. To ensure student safety, the gates will be closed each morning from 9:30 am onwards. If your child arrives after this time, they will need to be accompanied into the school by a parent or caregiver, or have the gate opened by an adult. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we continue to prioritise the wellbeing of all our students.
Term three is packed with exciting Glenview events. Stay informed through our regular communication channels—our website, emails, and social media updates.
We look forward to another fantastic term filled with learning, growth, and many memorable moments. Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to our Glenview community.
Ngā mihi nui,
Carl Allan

New Enrolments
Important notice to all families
Do you have any children due to start with us this year? Do you know any friends who are living in the school area who are likely to enrol their children?
We would appreciate it if you could go to our school website and fill in either the online enrolment form or come to the office as soon as possible to fill one in.
We also require their Birth Certificate/Passport, household Proof of Address (if In-Zone) and Immunisation Certificate. This documentation can be either scanned and emailed to office@glenview.school.nz or come to the office so we can take a photocopy.
Early enrolments help us pre-plan. Thanks!

The library is sharing with classrooms at the moment, but we are still open!
Please remember that books are issued for 2 weeks and then need to be returned. If your child doesn’t have class library time then they need to come back at break time and be put into the returns box or re-issued for another 2 weeks.

Learning about Characters
In J2, we have been learning about Characters. We have been reading the book Roo and Vladimir. They are dogs who become best friends. We painted them, making sure to use the right colours and paint them the right size! Listening to stories and painting are two of the many things we love doing at school!

Middle School Poetry Recital – Voices that Shine
Over the past few weeks—including time during the holidays—our amazing middle school ākonga have been working hard to rehearse and perform selected poems with confidence, expression, and heart. Each class held its own poetry recital, where students showcased their performance skills, and from these, four representatives were chosen to take part in our Middle School Poetry Competition which will be held on Monday the 28th of July. Two outstanding finalists will then be selected to perform at our whole-school assembly.
Throughout this process, students have demonstrated the Habit of ‘Thinking and Communicating with Clarity and Precision’, speaking clearly and meaningfully so the poet’s voice could be truly heard. Their ‘Persistence’ has shone through as they practised again and again, showing resilience and dedication. Many of the poems invited us to laugh and smile, offering the chance to explore ‘Finding Humour’, while others sparked a sense of ‘Wonderment and Awe’, reminding us of the beauty and depth poetry can offer.
We are proud to present every class’s group poem at our upcoming assembly—a true celebration of teamwork, courage, and creativity. Ka rawe, tamariki mā! You’ve brought the words to life with passion and pride.

The First Two Weeks at Glenview School – Term 3
S4 Senior Students
The first two weeks at Glenview have been awesome! We’ve been showing our school values and tikanga every day. If we do it well, we can earn a Mario Kart coin! Then you are allowed to play E-Sports at lunchtime on a Tuesday and Thursday, and it is AMAZING! Tell me, how many kids get to play Mario Kart at school and race their friends while also earning house points! Not many as far as I'm aware.
Some students have been trained as E-Sport Monitors. We get to help Mr Mac run everything. We set up the races, organise the games, support and teach the players if they are stuck and we even get to race at the end of each session. We love getting the opportunity to show and practice our leadership skills.
The senior school has also had some exciting visitors with us for the start of Term 3. We have all had Chinese exchange students. It’s been so cool using Google Translate on the iPad to chat with them and learn about what life is like in China. They are super kind, fun to play with, and even brought little gifts for us! We’ve been helping them learn English, and they’ve taught us new things too. Some of our favourite moments are just hanging out with them and learning how we’re the same and different.
Honestly, Glenview is the best school and we have had a great start to term 3! Earning coins, playing Mario Kart and making new friends from around the world. 🎮🏁🌏
